Couples Therapy in CT

Couples therapy in CT is no different than traditional marriage counseling. You don’t have to be married to have problems in your relationship. I am always surprised when a new client asks me if I will see them even though they are not married. If after hearing your story I think I can help you, then I will absolutely take you on as my client. In the past, I have also worked with parents and teenagers who are struggling to get along. And private therapy clients who bring in mothers and siblings to better understand each other.

Couples Therapy in CT and Pre-Marital Counseling

Smart couples come to me for pre-marital counseling, which is also considered couples therapy in CT. They want to learn the key skills of showing respect to each through goo communication. They usually means careful listening, coupled with an awareness that couples do not have to agree on all things. Or even most things.

Couples Therapy in CT and Divorce

It’s never too late for couples therapy in CT. I can’t tell you how much regard I have for those couples who have filed for divorced or who have separated geographically. Being an optimist, I always think there may be a chance at saving the relationship if they are willing to talk openly with one another in couples therapy. They usually have a positive outcome. That said, I also see couples who want to learn how to be strong parents for their children once they are divorced. Again, remarkably admirable.

Couples Therapy in CT For the Gay and Lesbian Community

Straight couples might think that the gay and lesbian community has an entirely different set of things to sort out. My experience has been the contrary. If you are gay and wondering if a person who specializes in couples therapy in CT might not be right for you, think again. Relationship problems are blind to orientation. Lastly, I have a lot of experience in working with married heterosexual couples who are working through the fact that one of them is re-evaluating their orientation.
